Herbal Medicine & Naturopathy Treatments

What is it?
Herbal Medicine is the knowledge and therapeutic use of plants to support your health.

Western herbalism combines traditional and historical knowledge with up-to-date scientific research. A herbalist has in-depth knowledge of medicinal plants, flow of energy, human biology and pathology, and understands how herbs may interact with prescribed medications.

The practitioner works responsibly alongside other healthcare professionals and can refer you to additional practitioners when appropriate.

Naturopathy recognises that many health concerns stem from imbalance and that your body has an inherent capacity to heal when given the right conditions. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, the naturopathic herbalist works to identify and address the underlying causes of imbalance, supporting you as a whole person — physically, emotionally and constitutionally. Your treatment plan is always tailored to your individual needs, and you are supported to take an active role in your healing journey.

Herbal medicine and naturopathy practitioners are regulated by professional associations, trained to high standards, fully insured, and guided by clear codes of ethics and professional conduct.

What to expect during a consultation with a naturopathic herbalist?

You can expect a calm, attentive and professional space where you feel heard and understood. The consultation focuses on understanding your concerns, your goals, what health means to you, and what is realistic within your everyday life.

Your initial consultation lasts approximately 60 minutes. During this time, the naturopathic herbalist undertakes a comprehensive case taking covering:
- Your main complaints and priorities
- Diet and lifestyle
- Family medical history
- Current prescriptions
- Whole-body systems review conducted verbally

Your consultation may also include naturopathic assessment tools such as constitutional assessment, iridology, functional testing, pulse taking, and nail and tongue observation.

Following this assessment, the likely causes of your symptoms and imbalances are identified and a tailored treatment plan is developed.

This may include:
- Personalised herbal remedies, such as tinctures (herbs infused in alcohol), glycerites (herbs infused in glycerine), herbal teas, powders, Bach Flower remedies, tissue salts, or topical creams and lotions.
- Naturopathic guidance, including dietary adjustments, lifestyle recommendations, hydrotherapy, and referral to other health practitioners where appropriate.

A follow-up consultation (30 minutes) is usually recommended after 6–8 weeks to review your progress and adjust your treatment plan if necessary.

You are welcome to bring someone with you for support during your consultation. Children must be accompanied by a parent.

Independent of consultation fees, herbal medicine treatment typically starts from £10 per week, with a recommended course of 6–8 weeks. The consultation can be done in either English or in French.
